Boiler Breakdown FAQs

Leave the property immediately and follow our Gas Escape Procedure.

Most issues with a working boiler can be solved within 60 minutes by one of our experienced gas safe engineers, however some boiler may repair extra parts to make them safe or continue long-term operation. Once the immediate issues are fixed, we’ll give you our professional opinion on what further work needs to be carried out to ensure long-term operation, or suggest a replacement if that is the case.

You should ALWAYS check that anybody working on your boiler is a registered Gas Safe engineer. Performing work on a gas boiler without being Gas Safe registered is illegal.

Modern boilers are becoming more and more complex in their design as manufacturers strive for better efficiency, which means your boiler may not be working for a number of reasons that only a registered Gas Safe engineer might be able to detect.

That being said, assuming you have no reason to suspect a gas escape, you can check if your gas is turned on, the electricity to your boiler is turned on, and the controls (either on the boiler or using a connected wireless thermostat) are set correctly before calling out for a repair.

It may be helpful if you can get an error code from your boiler that may give us some indication of what is wrong. Providing this error code on the phone may help us pre-diagnose the issue before a callout, potentially saving you some money.

Proudly Serving St Helens

Based on Mill Lane in Rainford, most of our staff are St Helens born and bred, including members of our boiler repair and installation team. We love serving the St Helens area and you can frequently spot the vans marked with our parent company (Invictus Energy Group) up and down the A580, or in and around St Helens, Rainford, Thatto Heath, Haydock, Prescot, Newton-le-Willows, Burtonwood, Clock Face and beyond.

Do we go further than St Helens for boiler repair? Sure, but we tend not to advertise it as we want to be able to ensure those customers who are also our neighbours receive a priority service, keeping those boilers pumping hot water in homes all over town.

Don't like paying boiler break down callout charges?

We get it – when your boiler breaks down the last thing you really want to do is pay an emergency callout charge of £100.

You can avoid charges like this in the future by taking out a suitable boiler careplan with OneHeat. Not only will any package above our basic care plan mean you automatically get priority callout, but you’ll also get your annual service thrown in too, reducing the chances of a breakdown in the first place!
